Tüm canlılar içerisinde sadece insan onu diğer canlılardan farklı kılacak
birtakım yeteneklerle donatılmıştır. Akıl ve düşünme yeteneği insanı diğer
canlılardan farklı kılsa da diğer canlılara karşı faydacı bir yaklaşım
çerçevesinde davranmasını gerektirmemektedir. İnsan, kendi dışında olan
canlıları ne yazık ki hisseden, acı duyan varlık olarak değil de sadece alınıp
satılabilen, sahip olunması gereken bir eşya olarak nitelendirdiğinde,
hayvanlar canlı oldukları için değil sadece insanlara yararlı oldukları
ölçüde değer kazanmaktadır. Bir hediye olarak büyük hayallerle satın
alınan evcil hayvanlar, bu heves bitince sokağa, kimsesizliğe, çaresizliğe
kolayca bırakılabilmektedir. Her geçen gün sayıları artan sokak hayvanları
ise daha sonra toplum için bir tehdit unsuru olarak görülmektedir. İnsan
aslında neden olduğu sorunun çaresizliği altında, çözüm üretmek yerine,
suçu dili olmayan ve kendini savunamayan masum sokak hayvanları
üzerine yüklemektedir. Bu çalışmada, hayvan hakları bağlamında sokak
hayvanlarının durumu, bu konuda farklı ülkelerin yaklaşımları
çerçevesinde ele alınarak tartışılacaktır.
Among all living beings, only humans are equipped with certain abilities
that make them different from other living beings. Although the ability to
reason and think makes humans different from other living beings, they
do not require them to behave in a utilitarian manner towards other
living beings. Unfortunately, humans do not describe living beings other
than themselves as sentient beings that feel pain, but merely as objects
that can be bought and sold and that must be owned. For this reason,
animals are valued not because they are alive, but only to the extent that
they are useful to humans. Pets bought as gifts with great dreams can
easily be left on the streets when this enthusiasm is over. The increasing
number of stray animals is later seen as a threat to society. Instead of
finding a solution to the problem that humans have actually caused, they
put the blame on innocent street animals that have no language and
cannot defend themselves. In this study, the situation of stray animals in
the context of animal rights will be discussed within the framework of
different countries' approaches to this issue.
