In this study, in Tuzla Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant (TABWWTP) with a treatment capacity of 300 000 m(3)/day of urban wastewater, disposal of emissions that occur due to wastewater characteristics, biogas obtaining in the digesters from the retained sludge which come from primary and secondary sedimentation tank and converting this biogas into useful form are discussed. H2S and mercaptan gases release in drying unit, and H2S, CH4 gases release in pretreatment unit and sludge thickening unit. Primary and active sludge after treatment is taken with mono pumps to the digester tanks and heated in 37 degrees C. 20 000 m(3) biogas is obtained from mixed sludge per day. This biogas is passed through desulphurisation unit. In the plant, in the biogas turbines, it is mixed with natural gas with definite ratio and with controlled pressure in the cogeneration unit and burned to produce electricity energy.
