Özet:
Background: Substance-use has been seen as an increasingly danger in terms of public health and peace all over the world and Turkey. Studies about drug-use in Turkey are limited and these studies mostly center upon west regions. Especially studies about drug-use in Southeastern Anatolia Region are quite insufficient. With the intent of remarking the increasing risk in Southeastern Anatolia Region, in this study substance-use in Adiyaman city is researched.
Methods: In this study, urine tests which were required to determination of illegal substance-use for 932 case in county hospitals which are bound to Adiyaman Province Public Hospital Association between 2013 and 2016 years were analyzed retrospectively.
Results: In the study, according to cases rate of male gender is determined as 97.2% (n=906). From all of the cases, 72% (n=673) were determined as drug-user, 59% were as user of one drug and 13% as user of more than one drug were determined. Within all cases, with the rate of 68.7% (n=640) marijuana was estimated as top and with the rate of 11.9% (n=111) morphine was estimated in the second rank. In the study it raises concern that usage of drug is very common between 18-24 ages.
Conclusion: Being common of drug use especially in young males who were directly or indirectly in the cases and were brought to emergency services in Adiyaman indicates a big danger over the long run in terms of public health and security.
