dc.description.abstract Perforation of the gastrointestinal tract is seldom observed in clinical practice, but is quite important because it is preventable and can usually be easily treated. We present here a case report of a young man who had unintentionally swallowed a foreign body and applied to an emergency unit with an acute abdomen. The patient, who was 23 years old, had undergone laparotomy with the primary diagnosis of acute appendicitis. During the operation a plastic foreign body was observed in the terminal part of the ileum protruding through its lumen. Appendectomy was performed with the removal of the foreign body and repair of the ileum. In the anamnesis taken retrospectively from the patient it was learned that the patient had swallowed something a day before the abdominal pain. The patient was discharged after the 7th day with a smooth follow-up. tr
