Öğretmenlerin öğretmenlik mesleğine ilişkin tutumlarının bazı değişkenler açısından incelenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada eğitim sisteminin önemli bir öğesi olan öğretmenlerin öğretmenlik mesleğine ilişkin tutumları bazı değişkenlere göre incelenecektir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, mesleğini icra etmekte olan öğretmenlerin tutumlarını cinsiyet, mesleki kıdem, mezun oldukları öğretim kurumları, medeni durum, görev yapılan eğitim kademesi, sahip olunan çocuk sayısı, ebeveynlerinin öğretmen olup olmaması, mesleği isteyerek seçme durumlarını içeren değişkenlere göre incelemektir. Araştırma ile ilgili veriler, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen Öğretmenlik Mesleğine İlişkin Tutum Ölçeğiyle toplanmıştır. Geliştirilen ölçekte mesleği icra etmekte olan öğretmenlerin tutumlarını belirleyebilmek amacıyla ‘değer verme’, ‘mesleki tükenmişlik’, ‘ilgisizlik’ ve ‘mesleki gelişime açıklık’ alt boyutlarına ilişkin 28 tutum maddesine yer verilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini, Adana ilinin merkez ilçelerinden (Seyhan, Çukurova, Yüreğir ve Sarıçam) seçilen okullarda çalışmakta olan 650 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Veriler 2014-2015 eğitim-öğretim yılında toplanmış ve elde edilen veriler SPSS programında çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda kadın öğretmenlerin; 1-5 yıl arası kıdeme sahip öğretmenlerin; eğitim ve fen edebiyat fakülteleri dışındaki kaynaklardan mezun olan ve mesleği isteyerek seçen öğretmenlerin, öğretmenlik mesleğine ilişkin daha olumlu tutumlara sahip oldukları sonucuna varılmıştır.

As teachers’ being the main element in the education system, teachers’ attitudes towards their profession in terms of some variables are going to be examined in this research. The aim of this research is to examine teachers’ attitudes according to their gender, martial status, professional seniority, types of schools they work, faculties they graduated from, having teacher-parent or not, the number of children they have and choosing the profession voluntarily or not. Data of the research was obtained by ‘‘The Scale of Attitudes Towards Teaching Profession’’ which was developed by the reseacher. The scale includes 28 attitude statements related to four subscales, ‘‘value’’; ‘‘burnout’’; ‘‘indifference’’ and ‘‘openness to professional improvement’’, which are prepared to determine the attitudes of teachers towards their profession. The model of the research consists of 650 teachers working in schools in the districts (Seyhan, Çukurova, Yüreğir ve Sarıçam) of Adana. The data was obtained in the education period of 2014-2015 and analyzed by means of SPSS. The research demonstrates that teachers who are female; have between 1 and 5 year professional seniority; are graduates of different faculties from faculties of science, literature and education; chose the teaching profession voluntarily have more positive attitudes towards their profession.
