(Neo)pragmatizm ve (felsefî) hermeneutik: avant-garde bir ortaklık

Abstract

Pragmatizm ve hermeneutik sosyal bilimler felsefesi ve metodolojisine hâkim olan kısır ve düalistik kavrayışı eleştiren, geleneksel (pozitivist) görüşün “yöntem fetişizmine” ve “kesinlik arayışına” karşı duran yaklaşımlardır. Hermeneutik, insanı içinde yer aldığı ufuk ekseninde değerlendirir ve insanî tecrübe ediş alanlarında “en doğru yöntem”in tahakkümünün yarattığı hakikat tekelciliğine savaş açar. Pragmatizm ise, araştırma ve soruşturmayı, problem odaklı pratik insan düşünüşünün her zerresine uyarlayan bir yaklaşımdan hareket eder. İnsan doğasına tanımlar üreten, onu “kabuller”e göre tasnif eden, salt refleksiyona indirgenmiş ve yaşamdan kopuk bir “bilimcilik”e bulanmış sosyal bilim kavrayışlarını eleştiri konusu edinir. Her iki “yol ayrımı” sosyal bilimler metodolojisinde çığır açıcı yönelim ve fraksiyonlar üretmiştir. Hem pragmatizm hem de hermeneutik, hakikatin verili dünyasından, dünyaların açık uçlu hakikatlerine geçişin “öncü” ve “yenilikçi” ekolleri, kısacası kendi çağlarının avant-garde’ları olagelmiştir. Makalemizde, her iki eğilimin öne çıkan argümanları ışığında, uzlaştıkları ve ayrıştıkları hususlar ele alınmaktadır.

Pragmatism and hermeneutics are approaches that oppose the “method fetishism” and “quest for certainty” of the traditional (positivist) view, which criticizes the vicious and dualistic conception that prevails in the philosophy and methodology of social sciences. Hermeneutic evaluates man on the axis of the horizon in which he is involved and fights against the monopoly of truth created by the domination of the “most correct method” in the fields of human experience. It criticizes the social science insights that producing definitions to human nature and classify it according to some “acceptances” reduced to reflection immersed in a “scienticism” which disconnected from life. Both “parting of the ways” produced groundbreaking orientations and fractions in the social sciences methodology. Both views have been the “leading” and “innovative” schools of the transition from the given world of truth to the open-ended truths of the worlds, in short, the avant-garde of their age. In this article, in the light of the prominent arguments of both trends, the issues that they agree and diverge are discussed.
